Food in Movies – The most famous dishes in Blockbusters

header_foodinmovies

What is better then a night in on weekdays or a lazy Sunday evening in front of the TV? We all have our days of “Netflix and Chill”, where we curl up on the couch, get into our PJ´s and just want to watch a good movie or series. Hand in hand with this goes of course a snack on the side. We collected our favorite and of course also the most famous scenes in movies with food in them. Check out what we found!

1. The Cheese Pizza from Home Alone

One of our favorite Christmas movies that need to be watched every year while wearing a silly Christmas sweater is Home Alone. Even as adults, this is one good old Christmas tradition.

2. Quarterpounder with Cheese Pulp Fiction

Tarantino movies always include some odd food scene and women´s feet in some way. The Milkshake or the Kahuna Burger, and below of course the discussion about how Europeans call the Quarterpounder with Cheese.

In the mood for burgers now? We can support your slouchy Movie night with some Burger Delivery.

3. Fried Green Tomatoes

A real great movie about friendship, age and equality is Fried Green Tomatoes. In this movie starring a phenomenal Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy there is a lot of food, but very distinct are the fried green tomatoes.
We found a recipe for you too if you fancy cooking this specialty.

4. Ambrosia Salad Edward Scissor Hands

Tim Burton has always a creepy and weird angle to build characters in his movies. Edward Scissorhands (starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder) always makes us a bit sad (no spoilers), but there are definitely some scenes where you just want to laugh out loud, like this one.

5. Watermelon Dirty Dancing

Not really a proper dish, but still. Everyone remembers the scene when “Baby” threw her one liner “I carried the watermelon” and is really embarrassed. No need too, Baby, you show us later of how you can rock the dancefloor with sexy Patrick Swayze.

6. The Godfather: Clemenza’s Tomato Sauce with Meatballs

“You start out with a little bit of oil, then you fry some garlic, then you throw in some tomatoes and tomato paste.
You fry it, making sure it doesn’t stick. Once you’ve got it boiling, you shove in all your sausage and your meatballs, add a little bit of wine and a little bit of sugar.”

Too lazy? We also got some Italian options to order in.

7. Eat Pray Love Pizza

Pizza is love. Pizza is forever. Pizza is your best friend. And it will stick with you in good times and bad.

Hungry now? We have the solution!

8. The Shining Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

A very creepy movie but ridiculously well played by Jack Nicholson is Stanley Kubricks “The Shining” (based on a Stephen King novel).
A writer heads with his son and wife to a hotel in the Colorado Mountains to spend the winter there to take care of the hotel in the off-season.
He is a recovered alcoholic and things turn very bad when he is starting to see ghosts. Son Tony establishes some sort of psychic abilities and also starts to see ghosts.
Well, not spoiling the movie for you, watch it yourself (recommended together with a friend).

9. Shrimp – Forrest Gump

Alltime favorite movie is definitely Forrest Gump. A story about friendship and love, with many great anecdotes about history and a real great soundtrack too.
We remeber Bubba, who is at least going on for minutes about the shrimp business and what you can prepare with this seafood.

Bubba Gump, a restaurant created themed by the movie even have an outlet in Hong Kong.

10. Elf: Spaghetti and Syrup

Not a typical Christmas movie but we love Will Ferrel as a sugarcraving Elf in this scene.

11. Sandwich Harry and Sally

This one is a classic. The orgasm scene from When Harry met Sally. We just love how the elderly women orders after “Sally” finishes her performance.

Need some foodgasm too? We have some great sandwiches for your movie marathon!

12. Twin Peaks Cherry Pie and Coffee

To all the nerds out there that love Twin Peaks as much as we do – you cannot forget Coopers addiction to Cherry Pie and Coffee.
