Guide to Hong Kong – East Tsim Sha Tsui Edition

East Tsim Sha Tsui

Tsim Sha Tsui is a popular place in Hong Kong, the name directly translating to sharp sand mouth in Cantonese. Tsim Sha Tsui is always filled with people but Tsim Sha Tsui East is less crowded in comparison. After being sounded people 24/7, a little scarceness in public would not be a bad idea.

10am
Bored of the usual transportation? Ditch the fast MTR and busy buses for the day. Instead, take a ferry from Wan Chai or Central pier to Tsim Sha Tsui. The privilege of taking a ferry around is a must to experience from time to time when living in Hong Kong. The sound of the rushing waves is peacefully soothing. Then add the beauty of the Hong Kong skyline, the tall buildings are the image Hong Kong is seen around the world and it always takes my breath-away. Being busy everyday, we neglect these little pleasures of slow ferries and memorable scenery.

11am
The ferry ride will create a short morning path for you. Start walking towards Salisbury road and go down the subway. Take the exit to K11 and have a coffee at the Alchemist creative coffee by GaBee. Morning coffee is crucial and even if you are a tea person, this is the perfect place. The staff is friendly and will help you in case you want to be adventurous and try something out of your comfort zone.
When you are done with the coffee, explore K11, unlike other malls that are merely packed with shops, K11 is an art mall. Grab some dessert from Holly brown or Smile. Then roam around the seven floors of the great mall.

2pm
Being in Tsim Sha Tsui and neglecting Indian food is literally impossible because it is available everywhere. When it comes to the East side, the best place would be Woodlands as it has been there since 1981. It is on the first floor in Wing On Plaza. I would recommend the Woodlands special thali as it has a crossover of South and North Indian cuisine. Thali’s are usually a better choice as you get to taste more than one dish. It is like a buffet on your plate and who does not love a buffet?

3pm
After some curry, it is time for another walk to burn the calories, head towards Kundamal House at 4 Prat Avenue. It is time for forty-five minutes of an escape game called Freeing Hong Kong. It is recommended for some out of world adventure. The ticket is reasonable and make sure to check for any events or new rooms. They have special themed rooms depending on occasions, like Valentines.

4pm
Out of the escape room and walk around the seaside towards the Tsim Sha Tsui East promenade. How can you be in Tsim Sha Tsui and not take-in the beautiful view Hong Kong?

5:30pm
With the humidity and heat of Hong Kong, it is the perfect weather for a chilled beer. Turn left once you step out of Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR station exit J. Stop at the King Ludwig Beer hall, it is an authentic German cuisine and bar with traditional German ambience. It might be too early for food for some people so just grab something light and have dinner at the last stop.

7pm
The last stop for the day is RA. RA is a Middle-Eastern restaurant and lounge with the choice to sit indoors or go alfresco. I always prefer going alfresco because the view of Hong Kong is always a treat to my eyes. Plus, the constant breeze is perfect when you need to have some shisha with a drink before you dig into their variety of dishes. Moreover, there is a gorgeous belly dancer performance twice in the evening around eight-thirty and nine. It is the best way to end the day with entertainment.
