10 Spooktacular Movies + Food Pairings for Halloween #TrickorEat

Halloween.

The time of the year that makes a common sighting to see a walking banana texting next to you in MTR, some mash up of Jon Snow and Daenerys holding hand in hand among a sea of selfie-ing Harley Quinns, all getting shoveled up the LKF ridge by the popo.

Especially with Halloween falling on a Monday this year, do expect the frenzy to last all the way throughout the weekend.

Here’s the plan. Party out all Saturday night and reload you introvert pole (assume you’re a cool introvert, like me :P) for the rest of the weekend. Nothing beats getting down with some Spooktacular movies with fitting order-ins, snuggling up with a blanket and your favourite human/non-human counterpart.

1. “What an excellent day for an exorcism
(Demon, The Exorcist)

Goes with: Classic Chongqing Dandan Noodles
from Dan Dan Soul Food From Sichuan

Why this goes well: Topping the list is definitely this all-time classic. Gobble down with a bowl of spicy Sichuan noodle from Dan Dan Soul Food. Heart raced, blood pumped, all set and ready for a good thrill.

2. “You’re gonna need a bigger boat
(Martin Brody, Jaws)

Goes with: Pokiritto, Salad and Rice Bowl from POKÉWORLD

Why this goes well: Well, think about RAW fish 😉

3. “I see dead people
(Cole Sear, The Sixth Sense)

Goes with: Ribeye Steak
from Bistecca Italian Steak House

Why this goes well: You need a decent base of food to get through this spooky movie. Also, the scene where he meets his wife for a date is filmed in a restaurant that nowadays is an awesome steak house.

from Seoul Brothers

Why this goes well: Go a little mad with a mix of something spicy and crispy!

5. “He-e-e-e-e-e-re’s Johnny
(Jack Torrance, The Shining)

Goes with: Golden Snub-nosed Monkey
from HOME! Eat to Live

Why this goes well: In one of the first scenes they have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. How about a healthier version with avocado?

6. “Just can’t take no pleasure in killing. There’s just some things you gotta do. Don’t mean you have to like it
(Old Man, Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

Goes with: Texas BBQ Burger
from Texas Burger

Why this goes well: Chainsaw Massacre cannot be complete without a juicy, squishy Texas BBQ burger in your mouth. Just have some.

7. “Brains! Live brains!
(Tarman, The Return of the Living Dead)

Goes with: Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese
from Butcher and Baker Cafe

Why this goes well: Gobble down some Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese from Butcher and Baker Café like a zombie. Remember to wipe your mouth in case you freak out you significant other.

8. “It’s alive! It’s alive!
(Henry Frankenstein, Frankenstein)

Goes with: Organic Aussie BBQ Chicken Salad Rice Bowl
from Supafood

Why this goes well: Get something out of this world and exotic and don’t end up as a unhealthy Frankenstein.

9. “What’s your favourite scary movie?
(Ghostface, Scream)

from Cafe Deco Pizza

Why this goes well: Watch your friends scream their lungs out as you pop that the last slice of Café Deco Pizzeria’s Pizza into your mouth. You’re welcome 😉
