HOME Eat To Live – Panda Peeks

home eat to live

Do you know, a vegan diet could avoid more than 8 million deaths by 2050?

In the face of climate change, foodpanda and HOME – Eat To Live believe that saving the world is as simple as having a green, organic meal! With HOME’s delicious and creative offerings, we wouldn’t even miss not having meat for a change!

Most of HOME’s dishes are named after endangered or extinct species – as the interaction between animals and their environment is the engine that keeps our planet healthy for all of us.

My first pick is the Siberian Tiger ($118), not only because I am a cat lady, but also because I love a good rice bowl to fuel me for the day. Made with highly nutritious purple rice, it also contains a medley of vegetables including mixed mushrooms, marinated tofu, seasoned garden greens, beetroot and pickled cucumber. To bring the flavours up a notch, the bowl is also mixed with fermented chili and raw teriyaki!

If you are looking for something filling for lunch without wanting to suffer the dreaded post-lunch lull, we recommend the Lemur Leap Frog (Small $78, Large $118)! While it is made up of the regular salad ingredients of crunchy butter lettuce, creamy avocado (of course, I cannot get enough of the fruit!), and pickled red onion, croutons, it surprises with veggie bacon, almond parmesan and creamy cashew!

Of course, lunch is usually a hurried affair in this city. But you will never have to compromise on convenience, health and taste with the Blue Whale (Short $60, Long $90). This easy to take-and-go flatbread pleases with falafel, roasted garlic hummus, mixed greens, roasted bell peppers and cucumber.

For those who love a hearty burger, there is the super popular Northern White Rhino (Solo $98, Combo $128). I have tried many vegan/vegetarian burgers before and this is probably one of the most outstanding ones out there! The subtle sweetness of the mixed grain and pumpkin patty is well complemented by the saltiness of the halloumi cheese (or select the HOME Vegan Cheese as a substitute) and the savoury herb sauce. Capped off with the fragrant buns – this is definitely one burger that ranks up there with its meat counterparts!

Even with all of these already in the belly, we all love something sweet to cap off the meal. One bite into the Chris Crunch Cookie ($35) and you will realise that this is no ordinary chocolate chip cookie. Made with raw chocolate, muscovado sugar and coconut oil, this cookie is chocolatey, nutty, and healthy for you! Raw chocolate unlike the usual confectionary chocolate we have, is not combined with sugar or fats, and does not undergo the high levels of heat of roasting that destroys its health properties. As such, it can help to lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and contain beneficial vitamins and minerals!

I could not resist going for a second or a third cookie… even after my meal is long over and done.

To conclude – you don’t have to be a superhero to save the world. You don’t have to compromise on taste or quality as well! Every small change counts. Every bite-size action makes a difference, especially the one you make from home. Let’s save the world, one bite at a time!
