Hungry Korean – Authentic Korean Food That is Fast and Fresh

Fancy a quick Korean bite at affordable prices? Then head over to Hungry Korean tucked along Wa On Lane.
On first glimpse of the menu, I noticed that they have attempted to put a new twist on classic Korean food, bringing a fresh modern version of some traditional favourites to the local food scene. What’s more, they pride themselves on using no MSG or other artificial additives and cooking all orders fresh on the premises.

The signature dish at Hungry Korean is the bibimbap. The word literally means “mixed rice”. Hungry Korean´s Bibimap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with a mixture of sautéed and seasoned vegetables and chilli pepper paste, soy sauce, or doenjang, a fermented soybean paste. To top it off, a raw or fried egg and sliced meat are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating.

Arriving hungry, I ordered the original beef bimbimap and within 12 minutes, it was delivered piping hot in a dolsot (means ‘stone pot’) to my table.

Curious about their Jap Chae, which is essentially a plate of sweet potato starch noodles stir fried with vegetables, I also placed an order to see how it would measure up with other traditional Korean joints in town. The jap chae arrived very quickly, within 5 minutes. Texture of the noodles was firm and ‘springy’ – loved it!

To ease off the humidity of the summer heat and balance out the sodium levels of the jap chae, I ordered one of their special drinks, the iced brown rice barlet tea. Now, this was refreshing and definitely worth a try.

For those who prefer to stay indoors and save time, of course you could always order delivery from Hungry Korean at foodpanda.
